This operation allows you to select any region of an image and force the dynamic range of that region to go from the darkest color in that region, adjusted darker until it is as dark as it can be and still retain the same hue, to the brightest color in that region, adjusted brighter until it is as bright as it can be and still retain the same hue.

You will find this useful in bringing out details in images that would otherwise be lost in insufficient contrast, and possibly embedded in a brightness range that is difficule to perceive.

Tip: For more complex dynamic range operations, you can use two of WinImages F/x's other operators in combination. First, you use Sample to select the region in which the colors exist that you want as your minimum and maximum. Second, you use Balance, with the Force Dynamic Range option checked, on either that same region, or the entire image. This can help adjust an image so that the contrast and brightness range of the entire image are optimum for a particular part of the image, such as a face or other important detail.
